The Prayer Diet Day 1

It worked for thousands of people!

This week I will be sharing about a different type of diet. I will still share foods and amounts that I have eaten, but not the calories and protein and fiber.

The Prayer Diet is not the usual "eat this food and not that food" diet or eat this much of this food for this many calories, grams protein and fiber. The Prayer Diet comes from a former eDiets.com website. One of the website writers, a minister, proposed to his readers an experiment called The Prayer Diet. He received thousands of emails in response to his proposal for a Prayer Diet experiment. It worked for thousands of people, that is, it helped many to lose weight.

The Prayer Diet involves a short prayer, said three times per day, and kept in sight to help remind a person to be more aware. We ask for God’s help with weight loss (and we know that we really need help in this area (talking desperation!!)) We also ask God to make us conscious eaters, to eat healthier! There are other prayers to add in later and more to understand about prayer and the prayer diet. So – the prayer is in a copyrighted book, thus I can not share it here but you can look for the book “The Prayer Diet” by Matthew Anderson at your library or Amazon, etc… I will be offering The Prayer Diet Program, including your own copy of the book, in March. Stay tuned for more information later this week.

Decided to fast this morning but did a bread and water fast since I am working. My brain needs all the help it can get these days!

I am fasting for prayer purposes and not for diet purposes. I have fasted many times and prayed asking God for direction or revelation about situations. He has always answered, just not always about what I was most interested. But I know that God knows better than I do what I need. I trust him and am thankful for any insights that he gives to me.

Ate a peanut butter (less than 2 tbsp) on 2 slices lite whole wheat bread with fresh vegetables and water before heading to town to run errands.

Had a gift card for Little Caesar's so bought a cheese pizza and picked up a bag of prepared salad (on sale) at Kroger's grocery store. The cheese pizza at Little Caesar's is not too bad on calories - 2 slices has 330 calories and a good amount of protein. Ate a gold delicious apple for a snack.

Busy afternoon of grading papers for my online class, and cleaning my house to show for a prospective buyer and I end up with a quick homemade bean burrito with a leftover small baked potato made into "fried" potato and onion and roasted cauliflower. The burritio wrap was only 50 calories with low carbohydrate and high fiber (Carb Counter brand).

And - had to have something sweet today so ate a Fiber One cinnamon and apple bar with 70 calories and 6 grams fiber.

Glad to report that I have not had a lot of "cravings" today for sweets. My choices today involved "quick" meals. These are not usually ideal for healthy living but my choices did stick to foods lower to moderate in calories while providing a good amount of protein and fiber.
